VHS Cassette Documentary “Mockumentary”

In 1994, Myke Hideous met an independent filmmaker named Mark Steiner.
Together they came up with the idea to make a “mockumentary” documentary of
The Empire Hideous. Mark pieced together many, many hours of recorded
footage of the band performing live and being interviewed for the
“mockumentary.” The hour-long film also featured special appearances from
local bands who both knew Myke and had played gigs with The Empire Hideous.
Those bands included: Sunshine Blind, The New Creatures, Loretta’s Doll,
Where I Wake Warm & Glue Gun, along with members from The Brickbats, and
The Erotomechanics. The “mockumentary” included three Hideous music videos:
“Parasites Bible,” “Mr. Barnum” & “Power The Empire” recorded on 16mm
film. Both Mark and Myke duplicated the “mockumentary” themselves onto
VHS cassettes to be sold to Hideous fans at gigs and on the Hideous mailing list.
There were about 100 copies of the videos cassettes from 1995 and 1996. The
documentary sold many years ago and is no longer available to the public.
